We don’t get very far in life without other people.
We don’t grow much on our own.
It’s only through and with other people that we become better at being ourselves.
A solo journey doesn’t help us learn to compromise, give or share.
We become better at those qualities through doing.
We only get to practice that with and through others.
We only become the change we hope to see in the world by understanding that whatever we think, do or say affects or influences others and whatever affects others ultimately affects us. We are all connected.

This is a very good book and I really enjoyed reading it. I rarely read a book from cover to cover. Either I don’t have time or lose interest in reading, but this book kept me interested to the end! It is great to read about the author’s life and to know how she felt about growing up in a segregated culture. I have been surprised so many times while reading this book and I have learned a lot on how cultural differences can affect relationships in a deep way if you don’t respect and accept the differences in each other’s culture.
